Question

I have PartyCAD 11 on my old machine but just got a new computer and have put PartyCAD 12 on that machine. How can I get my old PartyCAD projects onto the new machine?

Answer

If you have an old machine containing PartyCAD data from any version before PartyCAD 12, you can move this data to a different computer running PartyCAD 12 by doing the following:

1. On the old machine, copy the C:\PartyCAD folder to a USB drive.

2. Move the USB drive to the new machine and copy the PartyCAD folder from it to a folder named C:\PartyCAD on the new machine. Doing this will not allow you to run your old PartyCAD on the new machine, but it will make it possible for PartyCAD 12 to import your old work.

3. Watch the Importing old PartyCAD Data into PartyCAD 12 video. Use the procedures explained there to import your old data into PartyCAD 12.

4. After you complete the import step, you can remove the C:\PartyCAD folder on your new machine. I would be a good idea, though, to hang onto the data on the USB drive, just so you have a backup.
