Objects moving with view

Top  Previous  Next

Hi,

I'm having another small problem I was hoping you could help with. I'm creating a custom piece of furniture out of a few other pieces. I'm trying to create a light, which is basically going to be a chandelier with some faces removed and some oval globes.

I've taken out the faces I don't want from the original chandelier and created an oval globe. Once I had these two pieces I wanted to put the bulb near an arm of the chandelier. Somehow though when I change views (in furnish, the front/right/left/back buttons on the bottom) it is moving both pieces around as well as changing the view. Other pieces of furniture in the canvas remain where they are, it is only the two edited pieces which are moving when I change views.

Your problem is due to a long standing glitch in the way PartyCAD handles the rotation of pieces in side views. This is just about the only problem I have ever found with the program that I can't seem to fix. Fortunately there is a workaround.

If you will just never go directly from a Side view to a Top view, the piece will settle down and behave after one or two tries. In other words, if you are in a Top view, switch to a Front view first and then to the Side view. When its time to get back to the Top view, do the same thing in reverse... go Front and then Top. As I say, it may take a try or two before you get the desired result, but you will.

I'll take another run at this problem sometime in the future. Perhaps I've gotten wiser with age.
