Using Hotkeys in PartyCAD

Question

I've looked around for a list of hotkeys for PartyCAD12, but haven't been able to find any. I've clicked "ctrl" and random buttons and discovered that hotkeys do exist. Could you direct me to where I can learn the hotkeys?

Answer

Long ago PartyCAD was a DOS program called Roomer, and there were many hotkeys. During the conversion to Windows in the 1990s, most of these were dropped, but a few are still in there, I guess, and that is what you are finding.

There is no list of hotkeys, but if you search the online help for Ctrl you will find a few described in the documentation. There is no unified list.

For myself, I never use hotkeys, but there are a few keyboard commands I do find useful from time to time.

In the Page Editor and Design Editor:

--- pressing the N and B keys will allow you to step through items… N for next, B for back.

--- pressing the Del key will delete the currently selected item

--- pressing the arrow keys allows for very controlled movement of items.

Also, in the Design Editor, you can press D to duplicate the current piece.
